Growing up a dancer, Pilates was always part of Helen’s personal cross- conditioning routine, and as her dance training grew more serious so did her Pilates practice. Helen completed her mat certification during her senior year of college with Kearns Yoga and Pilates. While earning her BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography and BA in Psychology at Elon University, Helen extensively studied somatic theory; she explored Laban Movement Analysis, Bartenieff fundamentals, structural yoga for dancers, classical Pilates and experiential anatomy.
After sustaining a career threatening foot injury, while performing for Celebrity Cruise Lines, Helen used Pilates to heal and after realizing that her post-Pilates rehab body was stronger and more resilient than her pre-injury body, and as soon as she was able, enrolled in The Lab’s contemporary apparatus certification in 2015.
After being certified, Helen continued her studies at the esteemed Erika Bloom Pilates Plus. It was there she studied Prenatal Pilates, Post-partum Pilates & Diastasis Correction, Gait Correction, Pilates for the Elderly, and Pilates for Scoliosis.
As a result of her life -long technical, academic and creative studies in dance and Pilates Helen is adept at utilizing detailed, specific imagery to assist you in identifying and perfecting your alignment. Helen geeks out on creating innovative, crazy challenging sequences for both the beginner and the advanced Pilates practitioner for you to look, and more importantly, feel your best.
