THE LATEST GLOBAL WARMING FEAR

Global Warming, although not accepted by all, is nothing new. For the adopters of this attribution for climate change, overlapping seasons, melting poles and increased hurricanes have one catalyst. They know the Earth is hotter than ever. What many don’t know is exactly how raised temperatures affect the planet.

One specific fear on the horizon is the increase of sea levels and harsher winters for continents dependent on the Atlantic Ocean. The culprit, according to a recent study in the journal Nature, is the slowing down of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC), a major system of water currents which carries warm water to the North Pole, exchanged for melted ice to be ferried back south. The issue is that a melting Arctic adds more water into the salt seas, disrupting the AMOC. This may not only lead to rising seas, but a winter worse than the one NYC just escaped. Read more here.
