And when it happens, no matter how quick or small. It is truly something special. Most times, however, it is easy to connect with others based on similar struggles. Laura and I bonded on the ugly journey of self-discovery, and acceptance. I was inspired by her pursuit of alternative methods to deal with her struggles with anxiety and depression. <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Soul Addict is the product of Laura\u2019s quest to gain power and the right way to heal. I had the pleasure of getting her story. &#8211; P.R.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_57358\" style=\"width: 760px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wellvyl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Image-uploaded-from-iOS-6.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-57358\" class=\"wp-image-57358 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/wellvyl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Image-uploaded-from-iOS-6.jpg\" alt=\"Hemp farm in North Carolina\" width=\"750\" height=\"748\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-57358\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Laura White at her farm in North Carolina via <a href=\"http:\/\/www.instagram.com\/souladdict.co\">@SoulAddict.co<\/a> IG<\/p><\/div>\n<h4><strong>P.R.: What inspired you to start <a href=\"http:\/\/www.souladdict.co\">Soul Addict<\/a>?<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Laura White: I started<a href=\"http:\/\/www.souladdict.co\/\"> Soul Addict<\/a> after my own struggles with anxiety and depression since my teens years.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I\u2019ve always joked that I just have always felt deeply, so dealing with both of the above\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">has just been an inevitable part of my path. In early college, I knew I didn\u2019t want to take\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">medication like in high school when, yes, it helped, but I personally felt like a walking\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">zombie. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So in my early twenties, back in 2008\/9 I totally changed my lifestyle and I think at that early of\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">an age it came pretty easy to me. In New York City juice shops and trendy vegan restaurants weren\u2019t everywhere yet, but it was fun to follow these new things called \u2018blogs\u2019 (starting to feel old now!) and see the cool places to go. I followed <a href=\"https:\/\/kimberlysnyder.com\/about\/\">Kimberly Snyder<\/a> a ton back then before she was writing books about healing through understanding the basics of food combining and viewing food as medicine. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each season I gravitated towards Ayurveda, and natural movement, and doing a ton of research into understanding the gut health and mental health relationship, I ended up learning a ton about my own health.Those self-teachings have always served me well until about a little over 2 years ago.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I began experiencing debilitating anxiety again. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I was going through a ton of changes as you do in your late twenties and was feeling overwhelmed to the point I\u2019d wake up in the mornings and really couldn\u2019t get through work without feeling like I couldn\u2019t breathe. I decided that maybe it was time I revisited a doctor with an open mind.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, I still wasn\u2019t sure getting on medication was something I was personally ready\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for. I wanted advice and an expert\u2019s opinion. I went to that appointment excited to see my options and I remember walking away with a prescription for an antidepressant and feeling really quite powerless. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I felt like that was the only choice I was offered during my visit that day. I can\u2019t explain it but I intuitively began researching cannabis when I got home and was blown away to find that CBD (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cannabidiol\">Cannabidiol<\/a>)\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">from Hemp was something that was available on the national market. I sourced a bottle of CBD oil from a farm out in Colorado and after giving it exactly one month to see if it helped my\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">anxiety- I felt it was so life-changing and empowering that I knew more people needed to\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">understand this plant better.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><strong>How has CBD Oil affected your personal relationships?<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I would have to say that there\u2019s something really powerful about turning to nature for\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">answers on things we experience in this life. Having access to CBD has truly made me a\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">calmer, happier person. Directly overlapping with my relationships and the attention\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I can take off of helping myself. And turn that energy into giving back to people in my\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">life. It\u2019s kind of like nature\u2019s domino effect in a way. When we\u2019re healthy and feel good it\u2019s\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">natural that this vibration becomes the ruler of your life- you have more positive energy\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to spread and can focus on your goals and what you want out of life versus falling into\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">what I like to call the \u2018band-aid approach\u2019 that we\u2019ve created here in the U.S.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_57357\" style=\"width: 900px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wellvyl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/medmen-hed-2017.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-57357\" class=\"wp-image-57357 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/wellvyl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/medmen-hed-2017.jpg\" alt=\"MedMen Advertisements \" width=\"890\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-57357\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo Cred: AdWeek.com<\/p><\/div>\n<h4><strong>Why do you think there has been such a rise in the THC, and marijuana culture?<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>I personally don\u2019t think there is a rise, per se, but more of an awakening and an open<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">-minded culture that\u2019s beginning to thrive as our generation has grown into power.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This has allowed people to be more upfront about Cannabis use and creating a greater\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">conversation about how we view it as a nation. For years it\u2019s been propagated and\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">aligned with the War on Drugs and it\u2019s allowed for this really narrow-minded dialogue to\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">be the norm and not many people wanted to touch that stereotype, until now. Now\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">you\u2019re seeing this movement of destigmatizing both hemp and marijuana where people\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">from all walks of life are more willing to share their experiences. Allowing new aesthetics\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for cannabis to emerge that more appropriately represent its diversity. There is actually\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">this really great campaign by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.adweek.com\/creativity\/recreation-marijuana-use-is-now-legal-in-california-and-here-come-the-ads\/\">MedMen<\/a> that came out in January in California, that\u2019s a\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">great example of what I\u2019m talking about.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><strong>How is social wellness connected to the weed culture?<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Personally, I think the most exciting aspect of\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">everything that\u2019s happening right now within the Cannabis industry is the fact that there\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is a breaking down of these stereotypes- and there are so many amazing products for\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">everyone who might be \u2018canna-curious\u2019. Some people find cannabis allows them to be\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">more creative and open, while others might prefer to not to have the associated \u2018high\u2019\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and use hemp CBD to help find calm and relax. So there\u2019s something for everyone who is\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">seeking a greater wellness through these plants and therefore, I believe, there\u2019s\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">definitely a kind of overlap and uncalculated social wellness aspect to that. When people\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">find something natural that helps them be the best version of themselves that\u2019s pretty\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">incredible, why would we want to negate that?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wellvyl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Image-uploaded-from-iOS-3.jpg\"><img alt=\"\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-57359 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/wellvyl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Image-uploaded-from-iOS-3-300x297.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"297\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4><strong>What is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.souladdict.co\/\">Soul Addict<\/a>, who is the team and what is the future of the company?<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I think our main mission right now is to continue to spread education about\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the use of CBD oil and the sustainability power of Hemp. Though our products are really\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for everyone, we\u2019ve focused our attention towards women and creating products that\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">speak intuitively to women. I believe the relationship between women and plants is truly\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a magical one and Soul Addict\u2019s mission is an ode to this.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We\u2019re still a small indie wellness startup\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">consisting of myself, my partner Max, and my family has also been a huge supporter. We\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">are very organically becoming a family business as my Mom and Dad have both helped\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">me launch the farming side of our operation. We moved from my spirit city of New\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Orleans back to my small hometown in Western North Carolina on my family\u2019s farm to\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">begin growing sun-grown hemp. I guess I don\u2019t really know what the future holds for Soul Addict\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">as the industry is still in its infancy, but I do know that going back to nature and keeping\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the farm going to help spread education is one of the most important aspects I hope Soul Addict\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">continues to grow from.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Where does the name<a href=\"http:\/\/www.souladdict.co\/\"> Soul Addict<\/a> come from?<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As far as the name of our company, when first launching Soul Addict. I knew the name of our\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">company was punchy and bold which was really important to me. I knew \u2018Soul Addict\u2019\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">was exactly what I wanted our company to represent, bringing awareness and education\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">towards this idea of becoming addicted to nature and self-discovery verses a mainstream\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">view of addiction and it being \u2018bad\u2019. We\u2019re constantly surrounded by addiction from our\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">caffeine habits to technology, so SA is really about being more self-aware and\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">consciously becoming addicted to things that heighten our wellness.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><strong>How does your brand stand out in the sea of new wellness brands?<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I don\u2019t really do much comparing as I believe my nature isn\u2019t very competitive, to be\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">honest, maybe it was because I was an only child? But what I do know is Soul Addict is a company\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I\u2019ve created because I\u2019m an all-in kind of girl. I\u2019m not trying to create a trendy brand\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">boasting a trendy new wellness product- I\u2019m creating a company of service and that\u2019s\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">what I do think makes us a little different.
