A period of time designated for travel, rest, and relaxation. Time off from one\u2019s mundane drudgery. The fundamental purpose of a <a href=\"https:\/\/wellvyl.com\/interview-kelly-bates-founder-travel-souly\/\">vacation<\/a> is to devote unobstructed time to healing the damaging effects stress places on the mind, the body, and the soul. A vacation is a success if one emerges with replenished vital energies, enabling them to better engage their everyday lives with a renewed and positive vigor. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">However, the moment our returning flight lands and taxies to the arrival gate at LaGuardia, JFK, or Newark airport, we start to unconsciously undo all the healing our vacation provided to us. After an hour or more commute through crowded MTA subway transfers lugging our baggage, we return to our <a href=\"https:\/\/wellvyl.com\/the-broke-generation\/\">overpriced apartments. <\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">At this point, we are completely enervated. The horrors of the mundanity that we have come back to. Begrudgingly we set our alarm for work the next day. A work environment fraught with other overly distressed souls awaits our return. Congratulations, you have just fried your nervous system. The curative delights from the hot stone massage you received at your resort, abolished. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">To truly ensure that we not spiral into the cycle of post-vacation disillusion and <a href=\"https:\/\/wellvyl.com\/how-your-mindset-affects-your-health\/\">create self-sabotage<\/a>, we must take steps prior to our departure that will allow us to better integrate the healing we receive on our vacation. After much trial and error as well as observation, I have comprised a list that I call \u201cPost Vacation Care\u201d. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>DO NOT opt to take the Red-Eye flight back to NYC for the purpose of going immediately back to your place of work that same morning<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You will hate your life if you do this. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Flying at high altitudes alone physically taxes the body. The lower oxygen levels circulating through the cabin and the lack of movement causes a significant stagnation in blood flow. Leading to fatigue, dizziness, and an overall lack of mental sharpness. Between the angst of rushing from the airport to make it into work at the time that same morning is bound to result in a <a href=\"https:\/\/wellvyl.com\/how-your-mindset-affects-your-health\/\">toxic attitude<\/a> of negativity and self-loathing. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>MAKE YOUR BED BEFORE YOU LEAVE. <\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Returning to a tidy home always eases the sting of return. It felt welcoming and helped to maintain the energy of renewal into the subsequent days. Realistically, most of us prioritize getting to the airport on time for our departure prior to leaving. Neatness tends to go by the wayside. Go the extra mile to welcome yourself back home to the comfort of a nicely made bed. Also, you will <a href=\"https:\/\/wellvyl.com\/sleeping-beauty-yoga-nidra\/\">sleep much better. \u00a0<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>TAKE THE DAY OFF AFTER YOU RETURN FROM YOUR TRIP. <\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Having a \u201cbuffer\u201d day if used wisely can help ease the transition back to the ordinary world so that your return is not such a shock to your renewed spirit. You can use this day to do the following:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wellvyl.com\/thepowerofturmericinyourdailylife\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Heal the body <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">from the mild trauma induced from airline travel through <a href=\"https:\/\/wellvyl.com\/take-a-nap\/\">quality rest<\/a> in your own bed. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Go the grocery store to <a href=\"https:\/\/wellvyl.com\/green-juice-recipe-dont-suck\/\">replenish your empty fridge. <\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Head to the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wellvyl.com\/yoga-is-not-a-vanity-project\/\">yoga<\/a> studio<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> for a class. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Stretching<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">extending<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> your muscles can help <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">relieve their stiffness <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">as well as facilitate the recirculation of blood in your body.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wellvyl.com\/demystifying-meditation\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Meditate<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. The main reason why you went on <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">vacation<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> was to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">clear your head<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. Plan the day so you can spend some <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">time away<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> from major distractions to just simply <a href=\"https:\/\/wellvyl.com\/meditate-rioux-virtual-reality-environment\/\">quiet the mind.<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Plan for <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">post work novelty.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Arrange for a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/wellvyl.com\/night-out-without-bae\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">get together<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> with a friend to recount your travels, make reservations for a new place you have been meaning to try, or <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/wellvyl.com\/wellvyl-events-home\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">attend an event<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> or book a class for some <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">fun engagement<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Getting back into the swing of our daily grind must be approached carefully as to not risk canceling out the effects or our therapeutic escapes which<a href=\"https:\/\/wellvyl.com\/the-broke-generation\/\"> us New Yorkers undoubtedly work so hard for<\/a>. If we cannot integrate the <a href=\"https:\/\/wellvyl.com\/healing-crystals-more-than-pretty-rocks\/\">healing aspects<\/a> of our time off as we rejoin into the pulse of NYC, then our efforts will have been in vain.
